If you are bored doing the same regular walking workout or you want to improve your fitness level you should try doing some hill workouts on your treadmill. This means you should start using one of the most important treadmill features: the incline. The hill workout is nothing more than a exercise that mimics walking real hills.
These treadmill hill workouts will challenge and improve your cardiovascular system and the heart will work much more while the impact on knees and hips will be lower. This is an exercise that is perfect for the ones that don’t like running or the ones that like to train at lower speed.
Another big advantage of the hill workouts is a low injury risk and also the fact that is more comfortable to do this if you have knee problems.

Doing the hill workouts can seriously improve your health so is highly recommend especially if walking in the normal way is not a challenge anymore. You also need to avoid the same mistake that a person do while training in the normal way:
- Slow is ok: better do the exercise correctly and walk a mile less than to do the extra mile and having a incorrect posture
- Holding onto the handrail or console: this is will affect your posture and will prevent doing the workout correctly
- Overstriding
- Incorrect posture
- Not Using Your Feet or Arms
- Not Challenging Yourself
In the end you need to know that there no drawback of the treadmill hill workouts. Some people will say that these hill exercises will give you big calves. This is false. During the exercise you will feel the calves working harder that other muscles but that doesn’t mean the muscles will swell up.
