This is the last part of the How to buy a treadmill post

In the How to buy a treadmill part 1 we discussed about the most important piece of a treadmill: the motor; while in the second part we discussed about the belt and computer controls.

Another set of features you should consider are the entertainment ones. Many of the middle range treadmills come with a TV screen and mp3 dock plus a decent sound system.

While these things are nice to have we don’t consider these as key factors when buying a treadmill. Further more a TV in the console can affect your walking/running posture. We are not saying to dismiss these things but only to not consider them as key factors.

Also especially if you are not living in a big mansion you should look for folding treadmills and be make sure you have enough room for the new treadmill.

In the end we made this importance list:

1. Motor- the most important part of a treadmill
We know that we said this several times but we write it one more time: A treadmill is as good as his motor. Look for the powerful motors and the ones that have cooling systems.

2. The belt
This is the second key factor – make sure you have enough room (especially if you are tall persons). Also look for the cushioning systems – these ones will prevent joint injuries

3. Software features
The built in workouts, virtual opponents or famous marathons simulations enter this category. We consider a medium key factor. The variety of the workout programs or other similar features is something you should consider but should not be a decisive factor.

4. Enteriteiment features
Things like TV screen in console, iPod Dock or sound systems are definitely things that are nice to have but also features you could live (read train) without.

5. Warranty
We put warrant in the end not because is not something important but because most of the serious brands offer lifetime (or very big periods) warranty for motor and frame.
