There are two very common mistake people do when they walk/run : Not using coreclty their foots and/or arms.
Now, the right way to do a walking step is to strike with the heel in front and with the rest of the body slightly off the ground. Then roll though the step from heel to toe. When the big toe is on the ground you are midway in the next step and the forward foot is next to the rear one.
If you are using stiff walking shows you will not be able to do this exercise correctly so try to get better flexible running shows. Also in case you need to know that it takes only couples of minutes during each training session to correct a possible bad habit. Just spend 4-5 minutes each training sessions and focus on the foot.
Two things to remember:
1. Keep your forward foot likes is showing its sole to somebody facing you.
2. Keep the rear foot on the ground longer and really giving that push off
Another common mistake people do is no using their hands correctly. With proper arm movement you can walk/run faster and burn more calories. Here are some things you should do when you exercise on a treadmill.
1. Bend your arms 90 degrees and keep them close to your body.
2. Relax your shoulders.
3. Do a train motion; forwards and backwards.
4. Your arms move opposite to each leg, one arm forward when the opposite leg is forward, while the other is back.
5. Focus on keeping more of your arm motion in back of your body.
6. When your arms come forward, keep that forward stroke fairly short
7. Your arms can come forward diagonally, but shouldn’t cross the midpoint.
